Shirts for all occasions

Activities directors and other health care professionals. Here is some information you you can use.

May 13 to 19 is National Nursing Home Week. You probably want to order shirts for your employees for  and possibly for your residents or clients. Some of the usual vendors do not have shirts that say, “Celebrating the Journey”. Therefore you can get t shirt screen printing from another vendor.  recommend specialty t shirts. You can order from them online which is just so convenient. They also have embroidered shirts.

Nursing Home Week is not the only occasion you might need shirts with a special saying. Right before Nursing Home Week is Nurses Week which is May 6 through May 12.

In June is CNA Day. In fact for any special day, you can have special shirts available for your staff, residents, clients or family members.

If you have a sports team such as a baseball, soccer, or bowling team, you will want to show your spirit by having team shirts.

Let’s say you want to advertise the facility you work for. You and your residents or clients can design a shirt logo and turn it into a t shirt for everyone to wear.

You could say something like “Your facility name” has happy satisfied residents.

The Dementia Caregiver's Little Book of Hope [Kindle Edition

 Look, snap, connect.
There are three steps to psychiatrist Gary Small's favorite tactic, which he calls "Look, Snap, Connect." The first is to tell yourself that remembering a particular name is a priority, says Small, who's also the director of the UCLA Center on Aging and author of several books about memory and cognition, including The Naked Lady Who Stood on Her Head.

Step 1: Really focus (LOOK) on a name and face you want to remember.

Step 2: Create a visual snapshot (SNAP) of the name and face. Note a key visual characteristic: Big ears? Silver hair? Blue eyes? Dimples? Also create an image about the name: A cat stands for Mrs. Katz, a dollar bill for someone named Bill. "I sometimes see a famous person with a similar name," Small says. "So Angela Shirnberger becomes Angelina Jolie wearing shined shoes and eating a burger."

Step 3: Join the two images (CONNECT): Maybe blue-eyed Bill is a blue dollar bill, or Angela Shirnberger is a silver-haired Angelina Jolie with shiny shoes eating a hamburger. The simple act of thinking up these images helps cement them in your memory -- and ups the odds that the new name will materialize for you the next time you encounter the person

Maybe you can use this strategy with your residents

Purchasing a vehicle for transport

Activities directors, health care professionals and other professionals, here is some valuable information for you.

As an activities director or other healthcare professional, you might run across residents, family or staff members who need to be driven to various appointments or outings. You may purchase a vehicle that you will use to transport these individuals.

You want to purchase a reliable automobile. You want to get one that is safe, reasonably prices, and meets your transportation needs.

Of all these things, the most important aspect is safety. You will want the vehicle to be checked out by a mechanic who is reliable and trustworthy.

You may want to take a few of the people who will be riding in the vehicle to see the car or van. Before hand, you may want to discuss the purchase and tell them that you need their input.

After you and they pick out the car or van you want to buy, you can then take the vehicle for a test ride. If you like the feel of the auto and the way it drives, it is then time to get the mechanic involved. If he says that it is all right, then make the purchase.

Sometimes problems do not show up right away. What if you have a problem two weeks after you make the purchase? You get it fixed. What if another problem arises and then another? Now what?

If you live in California, you will want to contact at least one of the Lemon Law attorneys in California.

How do you know which of the California Lemon Law attorneys , you want to contact? The answer is to go see more than one and use the lawyer who seems to know what he or she is doing.

Use your activity skills to earn extra income

Activities directors and other health care professionals, here is some information you will find valuable.

Working in the activity field is rewarding, but the pay is not high. With the cost of living rising, you may need to supplement your income. There is a great place to do this. It is like a community that brings together socializing and meeting new people who could potentially become your colleagues or even your employer.

You can post a resume in a stress free setting. There potential employers can view it.

Let’s say you have a project that needs a short term employee or freelancer. You can post requests for this as well. As I am sure you are well aware that your main employer at a nursing home or other long term care setting is not anxious for you to hire permanent employees. You may need some work done that can be done by a third party online. This is a great place to find that person.

Maybe you want to collaborate on a project. You can find the right people for that as well.

So to review, you can post a resume; meet other potential colleagues, potential employers or people to collaborate with.

What to consider when looking for a new job

Activity directors and other health care professionals, here is some information that is sure to be of interest to you.

Nonprofit jobs at a non profit company certainly have advantages. There is some concern for the bottom line but less than if you work for a for profit business. All the money that is made at non profit jobs, after expenses, goes back into the business for improvements.

This can be most advantageous to you because if you need a new piece of equipment or more people to work in your department, you most likely will get them sooner than if you work for a for profit company.

Another advantage of working for a non profit business is that you will be able to get volunteers easier. Schools and other institutions require that their students volunteer. They want them to volunteer at non profit businesses.

In addition, if you work for a non profit business, you will be eligible to get grants, government and private sector. Getting these grants will allow you to develop new programs as well as expand ones that already exist.

So think about nonprofit careers because they are sure to be more satisfying to you. Thus if you are in the market for a new job, consider careers nonprofit ones, that is.

Make your home safe for those with dementia

Activity directors, other healthcare professionals and family caregivers, here is some information you might find most useful.

We live in a world where security is now an issue. Depending on the neighborhood you live in will determine how much security you will need. Even the most safe areas are under the watch of potential criminals and can be dangerous for those who have dementia even if no criminals are present. People with dementia who wander can get lost, injured or even killed, not to mention the trauma wandering can cause. So how can you make sure your home or office is secure? Especially if you are caring for folks with dementia, you want to make sure your home and office are safe. You want to make sure your residents, clients and family members will not get out and go wandering without your knowledge. The goal is for them not to get out of your area at all, but if they do, you want to be notified immediately.

The solution to these situations is to get a security system you can trust. You want one that is easy to use as well. I can say that such a system is Scotland Park alarm systems. However the choice is yours. No matter what security system you choose. Make sure they have a good reputation are reasonably priced and are easy to use.

Residents being the voice of the consumer

Activity directors and other healthcare professionals, here is some information that you will find useful.

Do you want to give your residents a voice in consumer products? Here are some ideas. Choose a favorite food or drink and have taste tests with several different brands. Then you can contact the winning company to tell them about results of your taste test. Who knows, maybe they will send you some coupons for money off their product or they might give you some free publicity.

Here is another idea. Talk about foods and drinks that your residents like. Then ask then if they would like a variation of a particular product. For example, would they like to see an added taste to a drink like orange Pepsi or vanilla root beer? I hope you get the idea.

After you have some good ideas for different twists on established products or a new product entirely, they can be the voice of the consumer

Save on groceries for activities using coupons

Activities directors and other health care professionals, here is some information you will find valuable.

As a person providing services to individuals in a nursing home, assisted living facility, or another location as well as those proving care for a loved one at home, you need to live within a budget. What better way to do this than with the use of coupons.

There are many places to get coupons including the newspaper and many online sources.

I find that I can save an average of at least ten dollars a week using coupons. In fact save on groceries using these coupons.

Cutting coupons out of the newspaper can be time consuming. Using online sources are fast and efficient especially if you use optimal sources online.
Save on groceries using these coupons.

Groceries that you use can be costly. In fact it could be one of your biggest expenses. That is why it is important to save on groceries using these coupons.

Not only do you want to save on groceries using these coupons, but you want to make sure your clients or family members are eating healthy.

Let’s say you are planning an activity with food. As you know residents as well as most folks like food. Even if they are not a big eater, sometimes an activity revolving around food stimulates the appetite.

What foods are you going to serve? You need to serve foods that almost everyone can eat. You can save on groceries by planning ahead and getting items you have coupons for.

Perhaps now that the weather is good, you want to plan a picnic or an outdoor meal. First discuss foods your target audience wants to eat then steer the discussion to foods you know the participants can eat.

You may want to have a cooking group where you can make some of the suggested foods. Before preparing the foods make sure when buying items necessary to make the dishes you are preparing, you save on groceries using coupons.

Try to make things that are easy to prepare. Try to give everyone a job to do while you are preparing the foods. Someone’s job could be reading the recipe or choosing a song to sing while you are preparing the foods.

An example of a dish you might prepare is a fruit salad. You can use fresh fruit if everyone in the group can eat it. If you have participants who are on a ground diet, use canned fruit because it is softer. Also it is easier to use because all you have to do is mix the fruits together.

Let’s say you have some participants that are on a puree diet. No problem, mix different fruit sauces together or mix fruit sauces with cool whip or yogurt.

No matter what you buy and prepare, make sure to save on groceries using coupons.

Translation needs resolved

As an activities director or other health care professional, you might run across residents, family or staff members who do not speak English. Especially if a majority of the people you deal with on a fairly regular basis, do not have a grasp of the English language, you will need a translation service to assist you in running an efficient program that all can enjoy.

Without translation services many of your residents family members and staff members will be in the dark as to what you are trying to offer them. It will be a huge waste of time and very frustrating for everyone involved.

Have you ever heard of Rosetta Translation Service. They are a world wide translation agency. They offer translation services in a host of major languages. They are one of the most well known of the translation agencies.

Therefore if you are dealing with a diverse group of people, you will want to use a translation company that will be able to meet your needs quickly with the utmost efficiency.

Of course, you will want a translation company whose services are reasonably priced so you can get the most for your money without sacrificing quality. One of the best translation companies, in my opinion, is the Rosetta Translation Service whether you need them to translate into one language or many.
